When choosing the perfect gift for someone it’s important to consider their interests, to narrow down the choices. Understanding the recipient’s personality and preferences is crucial to picking their perfect gift. Think about the type of gift they would most appreciate, e.g., jewellery, skincare, or home decorations. What colour, or design is best suited to their personality? Shopping online or in-store is a lot easier when you know exactly what you are looking for!
A gift doesn’t have to be expensive for it to be meaningful. It sounds cliché, but it is the thought that counts! When shopping for gifts, having a pre-planned budget can also help narrow your choices down when deciding what to buy. When buying online, a good tip is to sort prices from low to high, if you’re still wanting to buy something meaningful but don't have much money to spend.
It may go without saying but when buying gifts, it is important to consider the occasion on which the present is being bought. For example, during seasonal holidays shops will be full of gifts suited to different ages and tastes for that event whether it is Christmas, Halloween or Easter. This makes shopping for others a little easier, as you are spoiled for choice. But for other occasions like birthdays, more planning will be required to find the best gift for your recipient. As mentioned previously, think about their likes and dislikes, and take your time when choosing.
Receiving a gift of any kind is a lovely gesture, and most people will be grateful for anything they receive! After all, it shows that someone else has been thinking of you and taking the time to buy something they thought you’d like. However, sometimes putting that bit of extra thought into a present can make it even more special.
At A Wee Token, we spend a lot of time sourcing gifts that are special or a little different to make it really easy for you. With gifts for all ages and occasions, you'll be sure to find the perfect present.

]]>This is a wonderful initiative to raise awareness and give people the opportunity to make small changes in their life which will make a difference in our communities. When you refuse single use plastic and start looking for alternatives, you'll be amazed at the habits you make for life.
A few simple ideas which you can look back on from one of my posts on Facebook or Instagram from last week are:
1) Bring your own reusable shopping bag and produce bags.
2) Say no to plastic straws they are just not necessary
3) Bring your own reusable tumbler for hot drinks on the go.
4) Buy a reusable water bottle and fill it before leaving the house to avoid buying single use plastic bottles.
5) Recycle your soft plastic waste if you do have any, most supermarkets like Asda, M&S and Sainsburys are ones which I know off and have bins for recycling soft plastics from toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, fruit and veg, frozen food packaging to name but a few.
At A Wee Token this is very important to me personally and within my business and I try and reuse, recycle as much as possible. Packaging I receive from wholesalers I reuse boxes, bubble wrap, paper wrap in my orders I am shipping. I buy paper tape for sealing boxes and adding addresses, I use compostable mailing bags.
We also stock some gorgeous reusable water bottles which can be used for hot or cold drinks from Sass & Belle.
We also stock some fun, brightly coloured beeswax wraps which come in different sizes for sandwiches, covering bowls or half used produce which keep them fresh, naturally antibacterial and reusable so you don't need to use cling film ranging from £12.
New stockist to A Wee Token are Eco Living with their range of eco friendly and sustainable products, such as bamboo cotton buds, washing up soap, washing up brush, bamboo toothbrushes and vegan toothpaste tablets.
And last but not least the beautiful fragranced vegan natural handmade soaps from Deborah Neill, all made with botanicals and essential oils to leave skin feeling clean and fresh with recyable packaging and Deborah even makes a shampoo/conditioner bar and facial soap to cleanse your skin and I can't recommend these highly enough. Its a must!

I do love Autumn, don't you?. Walks with the crisp leaves beneath your feet and you start to layer up your clothes and get your warmer coats on and the fire lit with the darker evenings, huddled up with kids watching a movie.
With this in mind I have a beautiful selection of handmade speckled ceramic wax burners from Beehive Ceramics which are ideal for the darker evenings, making your house smell wonderful whilst giving a warming glow. £20 each.
Add some wax melts hand poured and lovingly made by Allotment Candles, Belfast and make your house a home this Autumn, segmented pots of luxury soy wax melts with high quality fragrances to choose from. All available on my website www.aweetoken.com.
Autumn is a good time for de-cluttering especially with the changing of the seasons and your going into your autumn/winter wardrobe. You can sell your unwanted clothing on a number of apps like Ebay, Vinted or Facebook marketplace for example. Leave them into the charity shop or pass them on to a friend or family member who might be grateful for some new bits and bobs. De-cluttering for me helps wonders as physical clutter leads to mental clutter. Whatever you get up to this Autumn, keep safe and well.
Thanks Karen

I’m very lucky and extremely grateful to have my dad in my life, as I know many who don’t and it must be a very hard day indeed, as all those milestones are. We enjoy celebrating with a day out, spent with my dad and usually cook a roast dinner or BBQ depending on our good ole unpredictable Northern Irish weather. It’s hard to plan anything outdoors!
To celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday 20th June, yes that’s less than two weeks away, you need to get your skates on and get organised. I have some great Father’s Day gift ideas for under £10 which I recently did a post about on my Facebook and Instagram.
The East of India Collection never fails to disappoint with their beautifully handcrafted pieces such as the Wooden Hanging Sign with the loving quote ‘Dad is a very small word for such an amazing person’, at £8.95 and never a truer word.
If you’re looking for the cuteness overload then this penguin will get you in a flap, hanging wooden plaque with ‘FLIPPING LOVE YOU’, it will touch those heart strings every time at £9.95.
Does your dad have a bar (these have been all the rage during lockdown), outdoor space or man cave and enjoy a beer? Then this wee token gift is perfect for them, it’s a wee black hanging sign with the quote ‘It’s always BEER O’clock from the East of India range and it’s only £3.95.
Or if your dad would prefer a cuppa then this porcelain heart coaster with the saying ‘Family is not just an important thing, it’s everything' will be sure to melt his heart, coming in at £5.95.
If your dad loves a bar of soap, then this is ideal. The Deborah Neill Bloke Soap which has now been repackaged and is called ‘Cedarwood & Patchouli’ is made for men in mind, this luxury soap will gently exfoliate the skin with the addition of crushed vanilla pods whilst the rich oils and butters will leave the skim smooth, nourished and hydrated. Breathe in the calming and soothing essential oils whilst washing. Deborah Neill soaps are all totally 100% natural, sustainably made and lovingly handcrafted with no chemicals, preservatives, parabens, SLS or palm oil and are fully certified. Luxury for £6.95.
We have a lovely selection of Father’s Day cards from £2.50 and dinky wee signs which are perfect for placing into a card for a wee token gift for dad.
All these items and more are available on my online gift shop www.aweetoken.com. Free delivery locally to Bangor/Donaghadee, alternatively I can post to the UK, Ireland and Europe through Royal Mail.
Quality time is one of the best gifts you can give your Dad so here's ten things that you can do on Father's Day with your Dad:-
1) An evening playing your favourite board games with your Dad.
2) Prepare a special breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.
3) Plan a family workout if your dad is into keeping fit. Something that you'll both enjoy doing together, like a bike trail or jog along the beach.
4) Make a picnic and take him out for the day, there's lots of local places to explore. For example, Orlock Point, Donaghadee. Flood Gates in Newtownards, Scrabo Tower, Newtownards, Cavehill, Belfast. The Mourne Mountains, Delamont Country Park and many more.
5) Host a lawn game tournament if your dad has a competitive side.
6) Take an adventure through the walks and trails of the beautiful National Trust, there are Mount Stewart, Castle Ward, Rowallane, Minnowburn, Mulough Nature Reserve, Gleno Waterfalls, Mussenden Temple, The Argory, Castle Coole, Portstewart Strand, Crom Estate, Florence Court, Ardress House. These are some of my favourite places. Check out their website www.nationaltrust.org.uk to find out more.
7) If the weathers not looking good, you could have a movie marathon of some of your dad's favourite films.
8) Encourage your dad to get creative by making crafts with him.
9) What about a spot of fishing?
10) Fire up the grill and show him your BBQ skills or Dad can show you how its done.
Whatever you get up to have fun and I wish all the father figures a very Happy Father’s Day on 20th June!
